Running the Paris Marathon 2015 - Team Médecins Sans Frontières
I am VERY excited to announce that on April 12, 2015 I will be running the Paris Marathon.
Not because this happens in my country of birth, not because I will be able to drink lots of beers afterwards (even though this is a little true), I will run because I am raising funds for a medical humanitarian organization that, I think, should be given a WHOLE LOT more credit outside of France because they are simply doing a Fantastic job out there.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), litterally translated to Doctors without Borders, are helping people in Gaza. MSF is deployed in Irak where ISIS is terrorizing the population, MSF is in first line fighting the Ebola crisis in West Africa by deploying human resources and mobile hospitals.
Médecins Sans Frontières are deployed in the Philipines to rescue the people victim of the recent Typhoon. They are present in South Sudan helping refugees of the political crisis that doesn't end. They treat thousands of people from HIV and Tuberculosis in India.
Médecins Sans Frontières are everywhere in the world ! and today more than ever they need fundings to support their operations.
I will run the Paris Marathon as an Ambassador for Médecins Sans Frontières with their colors and with their message. I have one aim: Bring awareness and support them in every way I can.
Where is the money going to ? See for yourself.
For 24 US $, one box of morphine can be bought in Gaza,
For 64 US $, a toolkit to clean a deep wound can be distributed,
And for 1150 US $, it is an emergency kit with surgery tools, medicines and bandages that can be used. That means a lot of lifes saved!
MSF offer assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation and WE need to help them !
They are deployed in countries that are affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from basic healthcare. (Nobel Peace Prize in 1999).
This is my first fundraiser and I don't really know what to expect, but one thing is sure and it is that this is going to be an adventure rewarding to every bit.
I have included the link below that will take you to my charity donation page where you can contribute if you have the means (if not, DO NOT FEEL PRESSURE! just leave some encouraging words). My goal is to raise 1150 US $ before March 15 and I promise you, EVERY LITTLE BIT COUNTS.
I will keep you posted for the 4 next months and let's run 42 kms for the one that cannot afford health care !
